Denver Rising, designed by Matthew Mazzotta with mural artwork by Bimmer Torres, transforms the familiar form of a barn into a public gathering space at Denver’s National Western Center. Its open, tilted structure creates a recognizable silhouette while inviting visitors to move through, sit, swing, and experience the artwork from within.

The installation combines a painted structural-steel frame with mural-covered dovetail aluminum roof panels and suspended benches finished with Accoya wood. The angled columns, layered roof planes, and cable-supported seating give the structure a sense of motion while maintaining the durability required for an interactive public artwork.

Elmendorf Geurts developed the fabrication drawings, fabricated the steel structure and suspended benches, coordinated finishing and mural preparation, and led installation. The work included building the column, beam, and leaning-frame assemblies; preparing and installing the aluminum roof panels; integrating the wood seating and suspension hardware; and coordinating crane, lift, lighting, and on-site assembly operations.
