Arches of Duty, designed by Pablo de Laborde Lascaris, is a pair of monumental Corten steel arches installed at The Royalton at Alamo Ranch in San Antonio, Texas. Standing approximately ten feet tall, the two matching forms are positioned shoulder-to-shoulder, creating shifting views and a sense of movement as visitors pass through the surrounding landscape.

The sculpture pairs an industrial material with a clean, contemporary profile. Its weathered steel surface brings warmth and variation to the work, while a below-grade anchoring system and concealed hardware allow the arches to appear as though they rise directly from the decomposed-granite surface.

Working closely with Pablo de Laborde Lascaris and the project team, Elmendorf Geurts provided structural engineering coordination, fabrication detailing, Corten steel fabrication, finishing, transportation, and installation. The completed work translates the artist’s digital model into a durable public sculpture while preserving the uninterrupted lines and robust character of the original design.
